Four men facing numerous serious charges in Ann Arbor

A single arrest can jeopardize so many parts of a Michigan resident's life. Any kind of criminal record can make it harder for a person to find employment, rent an apartment or even participate on their child's field trips at school. However, if a criminal record includes a felony charge, these types of things can become even more complicated. For four men in the Washtenaw County Jail, the felonies are beginning to pile up. The men face allegations that they ran a burglary ring throughout Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County. Some of our Ann Arbor readers may remember a string of home invasion which occurred throughout July and August in the area. The initial police investigation at the time seemed to be having a hard time pinning down the suspects in the break-ins, but they claim to have had a breakthrough when one of these four men was arrested on his own for an alleged break-in on August 9.Two of the other men, a 20-year-old and a 19-year-old, are facing numerous serious charges involving the summer break-ins. The 20-year-old faces 20 different charges, which are spread across nine different cases. The 19-year-old faces even more, with 24 charges in 10 different cases. Most felony cases go through the state court system. Criminal law has historically been within the realm of the individual states to define and address with the appropriate penalties. If the four men in these burglary cases are indeed found guilty, or even if they reach plea agreements, some of them could be facing serious prison time. That is why when anyone in Michigan finds themselves as the suspect in a criminal investigation, one of the most important first steps is to immediately begin to get the right information on what criminal defense strategy will be the best one to mitigate the potential penalties. Addressing the realities of the situation as soon as possible can make the difference between charges being dismissed, a probation sentence or prison time.
