Immigration is a federal concern, not an issue for Michigan District Court or Jackson Judge Joseph Filip, lawyer argues

An attorney who filed a Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission complaint against District Judge Joseph Filip for his treatment of undocumented immigrants argues immigration issues are exclusively federal concerns.  “(Filip’s) practice constitutes an impermissible attempt to preempt federal legislation,” Marshall lawyer Christopher Vreeland wrote in his July appeal of Filip’s decision in the case of Abel Castelan, 25.  Read more:
